Ysgol Bryngwyn School

Welcome from Head Teacher / Croeso Gan y Pennaeth

Dear Parents,

We look forward to welcoming all our new pupils to Ysgol Bryngwyn School where we pride ourselves on our friendliness and the close relationships between pupils and staff. Starting out at a new school is always an exciting time and it is important that the transfer from primary to secondary school is successful and positive for everyone involved. We foster an ethos of community and family spirit and our school is open for enquiries and to help parents of all pupils, past, present and future.

Bryngwyn School is an 11-16 school of approximately 890 pupils set in its own beautiful and extensive grounds in Dafen to the northeast of Llanelli. We have an excellent reputation for both the high quality of our teaching and learning and our exceptionally friendly approach to pastoral care, support and guidance for all our pupils. Our academic results are consistently high and we endeavour to provide the best possible education for all. Our aim is to equip each pupil with the skills and personal qualities necessary to take them forward in their lives, wherever that may lead.

Our highly committed staff, both teaching and non-teaching, dedicate many hours to ensure our pupils receive an excellent education, achieve their very best and become well-rounded, model citizens. We are proud of the varied and vibrant extra-curricular life of the school which enriches the experiences of our pupils. There are a large number of after-school and extra-curricular activities on offer at the end of the school day and we are very proud that these are all well-attended. Bryngwyn pupils have an excellent reputation in the community for outstanding behaviour and courtesy. Our school is a happy school and it is important to us that our pupils enjoy themselves as they learn.

It is not an exaggeration to say that Bryngwyn leads the way in many areas of educational achievement at a national level. In our inspections, all of the judgements made by Estyn have been either “Good” or “Outstanding”. It is especially pleasing to note that the school was recently highlighted by Estyn as outstanding in case studies helping to develop skills in Literacy and Numeracy as well as raising achievement and tackling disadvantage.

Bryngwyn is clearly an exciting place to learn and we are continuing to build on our strengths through our Essential Skills and Welsh Baccalaureate programmes. We live in an increasingly globalised economy and we work with our parents and the community to ensure our pupils are well prepared with transferable skills to adapt and succeed in a world of rapid change.

We look forward to welcoming you and your child to Ysgol Bryngwyn School.
